Founder & Principal
I founded Arete because the leaders I spent 25 years working alongside needed more than a consultant. Across health nonprofits, patient advocacy organizations, and the pharma and biotech companies that partner with them, I saw the same need: a senior partner who had led similar work from the inside.
That is what I bring to Arete's clients. Not a framework applied from a distance, but operating experience inside organizations facing the same pressures you may be facing now: revenue that needs to grow, governance that needs to strengthen, partnerships that need to deliver more, and leadership that needs enough altitude to see the whole picture.
I've held senior executive roles inside national health organizations, including Chief Development Officer at the National Psoriasis Foundation, Vice President for Chapter Growth and Development at the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, and Field Director at Blood Cancer United, following earlier capital campaign leadership at The Salvation Army. Across those roles, my work extended beyond revenue to enterprise strategy to include organizational growth, board and staff leadership, and complex partnership development.
That leadership produced measurable results: 230% field revenue growth in 18 months, a $47M annual revenue operation, a $161M capital campaign, and 64% revenue growth over five years. I've also built pharma-patient advocacy partnerships with more than a dozen companies across oncology, immunology, dermatology, and cardiometabolic disease, bringing executive judgment to work that sits at the intersection of mission, strategy, revenue, and stakeholder trust.
I hold the Certified Fundraising Executive credential and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from Indiana University, and I received my executive coaching certification in 2019.
Arete is a deliberately small practice. Every engagement is mine, not a team handoff. The work is senior, relational, and built to become part of the leader's real decision-making rhythm. Many clients find they forget I am a consultant. That is exactly the point.
A NOTE ON THE PRACTICE
Senior, relational, and built to become part of your real decision-making rhythm.
Every engagement receives senior-level attention — not a team handoff. That means capacity is limited and selectivity matters. The work is designed to leave the organization measurably stronger after it ends.
"The best consulting leaves leaders stronger after the engagement ends. Arete helps purpose-driven leaders build the strategy, revenue, and leadership depth to keep moving the work forward long after the consulting is over."
